Founded in 1829 Perkins School for the Blind is the oldest school for the blind in the United States. The school’s mission is to provide education and services that build productive, meaningful lives for children and adults around the world who are blind, deafblind, or visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities.
The Samuel P. Hayes Research Library, founded in 1880, is a resource for researchers, the Perkins community, professionals, parents and the public. Helen Keller Newspaper Notices
This twenty-one volume collection of bound scrapbooks from 1887-1947 contains newspaper clippings, articles, and pamphlets about Helen Keller, detailing information about her early education to her later life. The clippings include information about other deafblind students, as well as references to Anne Sullivan, Mark Twain, Alexander Graham Bell, and other figures in her life. The Lantern
The Lantern is a Perkins publication that puts into writing the latest news and events going on at the school and in the greater Perkins community. It was initially a quarterly publication, but is currently published once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Current issues are available on the Perkins website. The Mentor
The Mentor is a monthly magazine devoted to the interests of the blind at home and abroad and is possibly the earliest publication by and for the blind.
